The Beginning
Doug Healey Tours was born out of the growing Influence Crew community. By then, thousands were training with Doug, and the dream of travelling together to international marathons was growing louder.
But the beginning wasn’t easy. When Doug first approached overseas event organisers, he was turned down two years in a row. He was told his people weren’t the “type” they wanted at their events. Some were considered a health risk. Others had colourful backgrounds that might make visas difficult. And there were serious doubts about money — could they even afford to travel?
That’s when Doug stepped forward and promised: “I’ll take full responsibility. No one gets left behind.”
The Growth
True to his word, Doug made sure that even those with financial struggles, visa challenges, or personal setbacks had a way to be part of the journey. He worked through the obstacles, opened doors that had been shut, and created a pathway for ordinary people to achieve extraordinary things.
Over and over again, Doug proved that with the right support, barriers can be overcome. Word spread quickly. Soon, not only were Kiwis joining, but New Zealanders living overseas — in Australia and beyond — were signing up too.
The Tours Today
Today, Doug Healey Tours is a respected partner in travel and logistics, built on Doug’s own background in transport and operations. What began as a dream in East Auckland has grown into a thriving community of regular travellers who take on some of the toughest and most iconic marathons in the world.
From the Petra Desert to the Great Wall of China, Mexico and South Africa, the Influence Crew travels safely and with confidence under Doug’s leadership. What sets these tours apart isn’t just the destination — it’s the friendships, the camaraderie, and the lifelong bonds built along the journey.
